Toots & the Maytals – Bam Bam

Toots and the Maytals Bam Bam:

Jamaican reggae/ska musical group Toots and the Maytals recorded their hit song Bam Bam in 1965, which was later included in their album The Sensational Maytals. Fellow Jamaican ska/soca band Byron Lee and the Dragonaires produced the song.

Bam Bam was commercially successful and with it, the group won the first-ever Jamaican Independence Festival Popular Song Competition in 1966.

In 1992, Jamaican singer Pliers of the duo Chaka Demus & Pliers covered the song over the instrumental riddim of their hit song Murder She Wrote. It was released as the B-side of the Murder She Wrote vinyl and was equally profitable.

Jamaican pioneer female DJ and singer Sister Nancy recorded and released her version of Bam Bam in 1982. The song was a hit and went on to become a certified reggae/dancehall anthem.

Another version of the song was released in 1971.
