Close to You is an R&B soul new jack swing song by English reggae singer Maxi Priest, from his 1990 fifth studio album Bonafide.
Priest wrote the song with Winston Sela and Gary Benson, and a trio of Geoffrey Chung, Handel Tucker and Sly produced it.
Charisma Records label released the track as the lead single from the album on July 8, 1990 and it eventually peaked at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100.
It also reached number seven in the UK, number two in Australia and number one on the Canadian Dance chart.
The single has bagged a gold certification in Sweden as well.
