Hot Like Fire is an R&B/hip hop song written by American rapper Missy Elliott and record producer Timbaland, and recorded by singer Aaliyah for her 1996 second studio album, One in a Million.
The song was produced by Timbaland and released in September 1997 as part of a double A-side single with The One I Gave My Heart To.
In the song, Aaliyah is the protagonist who asks her partner to hold on a little longer before intimacy, promising to take him higher when she is eventually ready.
