As far as personal life or privacy is concerned, DJ Khaled has never been shy about pulling back the curtains. This is someone who recorded the birth of his son Asahd via Snapchat, after all. And now, the 42-year-old music producer will be sharing his journey towards a healthier lifestyle as a social media ambassador for Weight Watchers.
In a tweet announcing his partnership with the weight loss company, Khaled revealed that he’s already lost 20 pounds on the program, which utilizes a point system based on calories, saturated fat, sugar, and protein to nurture a healthier eating pattern.
While Khaled may have a world-famous music career, there’s no denying that his sizable social following has been bolstered by the fact that he is winsomely candid. Back in 2014 during an interview with Larry King, the host asked him, “How did you gain all the weight?” He memorably laughed it off and responded: “Just eating a lot, you know what I’m sayin’?” A bit more relatable than, say, a professional athlete like former spokesperson Charles Barkley, there’s no doubt the “Wild Thoughts” artist has sway with the millennial male generation. Even more telling? Upon making the announcement yesterday, Weight Watchers stock rose 8% percent in a day.
Oprah Winfrey, who is also a face for Weight Watchers and has a 10% stake in the brand, has already tweeted her support: “Can’t wait to see you #blessup this program.” And if social media’s delight in the news is any indication, neither can the rest of the world.
